kids domain pictureThe Internet has grown to be a great source of information, especially for kids domain. In fact, children have become independent when it comes to researching about their lessons and homework because the Internet has made it easier to look for information. Informational websites  for kids are among the most viewed pages these days, such that a lot of educators are exploring opportunities to contribute to this online knowledge base for children. If you are interested in creating a website for kids yourself, but don’t have funding for it, the question that you need answers is how to make a kids website for free.

There are many ways of creating websites without spending too much, or even a little, on it. To begin with, you will need a domain name. While typically, domain names are secured by registering them and paying a free, there are websites that offer free domain names if you host your website with them. There are limitations to getting the domain name that you prefer though, but at least that is one part of your problem solved.

Your next problem is the hosting requirement. Your website has to be hosted somewhere. Again, traditionally, this is something that you have to pay for, but you can also get it for free. There are free hosting services that you will find in the Internet. There are even hosting services providers that offer free hosting for a trial period. If you want to see first if your idea will fly, you might want to go for the free trial first, and then plan to invest in the proper hosting services in the future.

But the question of how to make a kids website for free involves more than the technical aspect of setting up a website. More importantly, you should think about how to design the website, in terms of theme, content and look and feel. When you set out to think about these things, consider the following tips:

1. Make it interactive. Kids get bored from listening or reading, so give them something to do. And don’t give them any repetitive work as well. You want them to be engaged from the start to the finish. So come up for example with exciting mini games that they can play on the website.

2. Make it more visual. As we mentioned, you cannot expect children to be fond of reading so much so that they will want to sit down and read through your website pages. Present information in the form of visuals. If you can animate them, all the better. It is so easy to grab their attention if you have something moving flashing before their eyes.

3. Make it easy to navigate. If your website covers a lot of topics, you should think about your web architecture very seriously. Arrange the topics in such a way that they are conspicuously and easily available. Kids won’t have the patience to click through.
